Black Owned Baltimore

Updated: Oct 27, 2022

Since moving to Baltimore in 2020, I've had an opportunity to explore many local, Black owned businesses and quickly learned why Baltimore is known as the Charm City. I didn't have an impression of what the city would be like prior to moving here which probably was a good thing since everyone immediately associates it with The Wire.

Every neighborhood is so unique and every business has it's own story that makes you feel like you're a part of their family after a visit. Reflecting on my almost 2 years here, I've seen a lot but there's always something new to discover which charms you over and over.

Check out 5 of the 19 businesses below that made it to my guide. They range from food, self care, experiences and shopping. I've personally been to them all and recommend you visit!

A husband and wife duo started this tea house to introduce tea culture to the community. The vibes here are so calming and the turmeric latte is my favorite. I've been twice and made a few Tik Toks of my visits. Tell Ms. Lynnette I sent you!

The people who work here were so friendly! I had the beet lemonade smoothie and the grilled cheese. It was so good I forgot it wasn't real cheese.

Hair by Rika J 💁🏽‍♀️

Rika is the only stylist I've gotten a silk press from in Baltimore. It lasted so long. I've also booked her for some quick feed-in braids. Great work every time and she's always on time.

Kim needs to be your esthetician ASAP. We always are having a kiki during each visit. She's personable and loves the work she does.

A catalyst for culture, community and the development of the creative economy by connecting the consumer to independent artists from the world. This is a dope space that feels like you're walking into your house every time you're there. They have two locations, one in Baltimore and Washington, DC. I've had the privilege to host 2 pop-up shops here.

I'd love to hear your favorite Black owned businesses in Baltimore so I can add them to my list. Let me know what you think if you stop by any of the businesses I recommended! You can tag me at @ABEbyAQ/@TheAdultingQueen on Instagram 🖤
