Q&A with AQ 👑 feat. Sherrelle

Writer's picture: The Adulting QueenThe Adulting Queen

Welcome back to my blog and the first Q&A with AQ 👑 (Adulting Queen).

Basically, I just call up my friends and tell them to ask me 5 random questions, then voila you get a blog post and fun facts about me!

Sherrelle and I met when I visited FIU in Miami for my on-campus interview. She was my host for the few days I was there and from that experience a wonderful friendship developed! She did get us lost coming out of the MIA airport but that's a story for another time 😁. I also have the privilege of being the Godmother to her first born Ezekiel. 👶🏽

Let’s see what random things Sherrelle asked....

When was the last time you tried something new?

AQ- Moving to Maryland, I've been trying all the new restaurants. I also stayed at a bed and breakfast for the first time. Aside from that, for The Adulting Queen I started tracking my time spent working on things and it is way more than I anticipated!

Sherrelle- This week! I decided that I wanted to get back into running, but also now have a toddler, so I brought him along and ran while pushing his stroller. Although the action was not new, I found a way to involve him in something he loves, while also getting in a workout.

What gets you excited about life?

AQ- The future and what is in store for that! Even though we're in a pandemic I think things have made an interesting turn around for me personally and it's making me excited for what is to come. I'm reminding myself that I need to stay in the present now and ride through this journey of transition and new beginnings.

Sherrelle- The future! I know what I am doing now directly relates to how my future will play out for me and my family, so planning is key!

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

AQ- Everyone does not have your best interest in mind and everything isn't for everyone. You have to find the people that really ride for you no matter what. Quantity > Quality

Sherrelle- Budgeting correctly. Having a set budget and sticking to it and saving in advance for recurring maintenance or bills that you know will occur. We have pretty much mastered it now, but if I had gotten that sooner, the things we could be doing now!

What's the most sensible thing you've ever heard someone say?

AQ- Do what makes you happy!

Sherrelle- When someone shows you who they are, believe them! -My girl Maya Angelou

What is your favorite quote and why?

AQ- Some days she has no idea how it will get done, but every single day it still gets done. I'm not sure who said this one but during a professional staff training we had to write a quote that gets us through and this one has stuck with me.

Sherrelle- I do my best because I'm counting on you, counting on me - Maya Angelou. It speaks volumes to who I am as a person and how important it is to be the village for others. There are too many people counting on me that I cannot fail.
