Q&A with AQ 👑 feat. Sixto

Welcome back to my blog and the first Q&A with AQ 👑 (Adulting Queen).

Basically, I just call up my friends and tell them to ask me 5 random questions, then voila you get a blog post and fun facts about me!

Sixto and I met while I was a Resident Director at Hofstra. When we learned that we both loved a good time, drag and brunch we instantly clicked! He's also a fellow Leo ♌️ & #leoszn is right around the corner!

Let’s see what random things Sixto asked....

If the kid version of you were to meet you now, how would they react?

AQ- I think younger Amber would be shocked and proud of adult Amber. When I look back at things I wrote in elementary or middle school, I pretty much had the same temperament and always had ambition.

Sixto- LOL! The kid version of me would be VERY surprised by how far I've come in life but he would also appreciate knowing that the struggles he would go through would make a great adult. Love you, little Six!

What show do you wish would come back from your childhood?

AQ- Cousin Skeeter and All That. I'd take back all the Nickelodeon classics really, shows aren't made like they used to anymore.

Sixto- Courage the Cowardly Dog was one of my favorite shows growing up! It had so much potential and I was so sad to know that they stopped making episodes. I hope there's a reboot someday :)

What is one thing you are looking forward to starting your new job?

AQ- A change in scenery, being able to start fresh and lead a department. COVID made motivation very low work wise, so starting a new job has filled my cup back up. Becoming a Director is something I've dreamed of and it's finally here!

Sixto- Although I've been in my role for over a year now, when I do start a new role, I am looking forward to the new opportunities that come with serving in that capacity. My hope is to move into a middle management supervisory role (Assistant or Associate Director) within Student Engagement and/or Fraternity and Sorority Life.

What was the most significant event of your life?

AQ- The most significant event of my life was when my grandma passed away in 2006. I was 14 and remember the day vividly. I had spent a lot of time with my grandma growing up and every day I hope I'm making her proud!

Sixto- The most significant event in my life was finding out that I had cancer. It really put things in perspective for me such as living life with more meaning and facing fear head-on. Ever since then, it has allowed me to think of things for what they are worth in the moment and the impact that it would have on my life.

How do you want to be remembered after you die?

AQ- I always mention the Beyonce song- I Was Here. That perfectly describes how I want to be remembered. I want to be remembered as someone that is strong, cares for others, is supportive, fun and resourceful. Aside from that, I want a building at a university named after me and to have scholarships in my name.

Sixto- I want to be remembered for someone who loved and lead with passion. As someone who paid it forward and really lived life with purpose. I want my work to be meaningful and I want my kids to remember that they can be whoever they want to be as long as it doesn't cause them or others harm.
